DEFENDANT, Chumash Medicine man

The potential for this level of dysfunction in government and the courts, abuses of power under color of authority, is seen everywhere, subconsciously, by the people and they lose their respect for the law. Children see this and wonder if anyone cares about their future because they sense that these abuses are somehow related to pollution and the destruction of the environment. They can become deeply hopeless and life becomes cheaper while apathy is free. If they do not have the best family support they are at risk in our society. Our ignorance and neglect of our democratic control over our courts and government will cost us all that is good and beautiful in our lives as a people.
